A Bike Bell made to Cut Through Noise-Cancelling Headphones

The Škoda Auto DuoBell is the first bike bell made to cut through noise-cancelling headphones.

The DuoBell uses a special 750 Hz sound frequency and a dual-tone design to help people hear it, even while wearing noise-cancelling headphones.

Noise-cancelling headphones can block normal bike bells, making it harder for pedestrians and cyclists to notice each other.

Škoda discovered a narrow range of sound that active noise cancellation cannot fully block, and then created a bell tuned specifically to that frequency. Instead of making the bell louder, they made it smarter.

Why it matters:
More people are walking and cycling while wearing headphones, especially in busy cities. A bell designed to stay audible could help prevent accidents and improve safety for everyone on the road and sidewalks.
