Brilliant Digital Sundial with innovative Gnomon made by 3D-printer, which added slices to display numbers. Watch the sundial at the video…
French engineer under the name of Mojoptix, has created a brilliant digital sundial showing the time digitally, by using the sun as a back-light for a series of analog pixels that are 3D printed to precise angles.
The 3D-printed sundial displays time from 10 am to 4 pm in 20-minute increments
The Swiss cheese inside the sundial is so intricate, that you can’t realistically use injection molding, or some other mass-production method. 3D printing seems actually to be the only practical way to build this digital sundial ! (is that really true ?? let me know what you think in the comments!)
