Dcubed has announced its ARAQYS-D3 mission, which will demonstrate a 2 kW solar array made in space.
The system is designed to support power-beaming and directed-energy applications. It is being built with Astro Digital and is scheduled to launch on a SpaceX rideshare mission in Q1 2027, arranged by Maverick Space Systems.
Dcubed GmbH—known for its release actuators, deployable structures, and in-space manufacturing (ISM) technologies—is now expanding into space-based energy systems with ARAQYS. With this platform, Dcubed aims to lead the market in delivering affordable, scalable, and virtually unlimited power in orbit.
Lower launch costs from companies like SpaceX and Rocket Lab have opened the door to a new wave of in-orbit services—data centers, high-energy-maneuver spacecraft, direct-to-device communications, and defense networks. All of them face the same issue: a growing need for large amounts of reliable, cost-effective power.
