Airbus has introduced its new fully electric NextGen CityAirbus prototype to the public, ahead of its first flight later this year.

This sleek air taxi, weighing two tonnes and boasting a wingspan of around 12 meters, is designed for urban missions with an 80 km range and a cruising speed of 120 km/h, making it ideal for city operations.

The unveiling occurred alongside the inauguration of the new CityAirbus test center in Donauwörth, dedicated to testing electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs).

Balkiz Sarihan, Head of Urban Air Mobility at Airbus, said:

Airbus is also expanding its global network and partnerships to cultivate a thriving Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market.

Recently, they partnered with LCI, a prominent aviation company, focusing on developing partnership scenarios and business models in strategy, commercialization, and financing within the AAM sector.
