Elon Musk‘s SpaceX wants to launch more than 4,400 satellites to provide broadband speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
SpaceX asked the FCC for permission to send 4,425 satellites into orbit around our planet.
The internet satellites that will orbit at altitudes from 715 miles to 790 miles and weigh about 850 lbs (386 kg), will provide broadband speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
The orbiting digital communications array will be able to provide broadband service at speeds of up to 1 Gbps, to people around the world.
Each satellite will be able to cover an area on the ground around 1,300 miles.
