FIA announced that Formula One will introduce the “halo” cockpit protection system from next year on.
The FIA explained in a statement that it had tested a lot of devices over the past years, and it is “becoming clear that the halo presents the best overall safety performance.”
The halo setup first tested back in March of 2016 during a test with Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen.
