Boeing-owned Wisk Aero Generation 6 eVTOL aircraft has successfully flown for the first time.
The Wisk Aero aircraft completed its maiden flight at Wisk’s test site in Hollister, California. During the flight, it carried out a vertical takeoff, hovered, and performed stable flight maneuvers, staying airborne for over 45 seconds.
This first flight confirms that the aircraft’s main flight systems are working as designed and marks the beginning of a broader flight-testing program. Generation 6 is the aircraft Wisk is using for its type certification and ongoing approval process.
Wisk is the only company to have designed, built, and flown six different generations of eVTOL aircraft. Because Generation 6 is fully autonomous and does not require a pilot, it can carry four passengers along with their carry-on luggage.
