How to prevent Hangovers with science

New Years Eve is here, and just in case you celebrate a little too hard, here some chemistry tips on how to stave that hangover

Here are some very useful tips:

  • Drink one glass of water after every drink: The more water in your system, the less chance of significant dehydration.
  • Eat eggs first thing in the morning: Eggs have a high concentration of amino acid called L-cysteine, which helps your body more readily breakdown excess acetaldehyde and in turn eliminates some of those hangover symptoms
  • Stop drinking before bed: Don’t drink anything for an hour and a half before bed, which will keep you from waking up throughout the night
  • Don’t drink on an empty stomach: To help alleviate the issues of a weak stomach lining, it’s wise to make sure that you have some heavy foods in your stomach before you begin drinking.

Happy New Year folks!
