SR-72, the new hypersonic warplane, will fly at Mach 6, to strike anywhere, anytime.
The futuristic Lockheed Martin‘s SR-72 new hypersonic aircraft will fly six times the speed of sound, will be three times faster than Concorde, a significant advantage in reaching targets before opponents had time to react.

Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed’s chief executive, outlined that the company is also working on a laser weapon, called Athena, that could be used on the battlefield.
Engineers have struggled for decades to power the hypersonic aircraft, with so-called scramjet engine.
Ms Hewson, said:
“We estimate it (the hypersonic aircraft) will cost less than $1bn to develop, build, and fly a demonstrator aircraft the size of an F-22.”
