Project Hyperion studies the possibility of sending humans to nearby stars using generation ships built with current and near-future technology.

A generation ship is a theoretical spacecraft designed for long space journeys, potentially lasting hundreds of years.

The concept involves the original crew living their entire lives on the ship, with future generations being born and raised on board until they reach the destination.

These ships are imagined as self-sufficient systems, including food production, living spaces, and life-support systems to sustain multiple generations.
