Saudi Arabia to host 2029 Asian Winter Games ‘in the heart of the desert,’ at Neom.
Saudi Arabia has won the right to host Asian Winter Games in 2029, at Trojena resort, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Aedas, UNStudio, LAVA and Bureau Proberts as part of the Neom development.
The 2029 Asian Winter Games will be hosted at a 60-square-kilometre skiing and outdoor activity resort, at Neom renewable energy-powered region.
Neom chief executive Nadhmi al-Nasr, explained:
“Trojena will have a suitable infrastructure to create the winter atmosphere in the heart of the desert, to make this Winter Games an unprecedented global event.”
The resort is being built 50 kilometres from the Gulf of Aqaba coast, in a mountainous area with elevations ranging from 1,500 m to 2,600 m, will “offer year-round outdoor skiing.”
