Self driving cars are five times more likely to have an accident, but it’s human drivers who are at fault.
Google’s self-driving cars, that now have covered more than two million miles, had 9.1 crashes, compared to just 1.9 for those with a human driver.

However, according to the report, none of the accidents were the fault of the self driving car.
“Our self-driving cars are being hit surprisingly often by other drivers who are distracted and not paying attention to the road.”
On July 1, 2015, our self-driving car was driving autonomously towards an intersection in Mountain View, CA, when it was rear-ended.
