SpaceX Starship spacecraft exploded for the second time, shortly after liftoff from Texas, sending burning debris falling from the sky and causing flight disruptions.
The 123-meter-tall unmanned spacecraft Starship Flight 8 lost control during ascent, approximately 8 minutes into the flight test, spinning out before breaking apart. Despite the booster successfully returning to Boca Chica, SpaceX confirmed the rocket experienced a “rapid unplanned disintegration.”
This marks the second consecutive explosion and the eighth test flight overall. Just a month ago, another Starship test ended similarly.
“Every flight teaches us something, and today’s test will help improve Starship’s reliability,” SpaceX stated.
