Take a look at this spectacular video capturing a Sun Halo over Sweden.
This phenomenon called 22 degree halo which can form around the sun or moon, forming in high thin cirrus clouds drifting 20,000 feet, is caused by both refraction, or splitting of light from these ice crystals.
