Boom announces the successful first flight of the XB-1 supersonic jet, providing the foundation for the supersonic airliner, Overture.
The inaugural flight of Boom’s XB-1 demonstrator marks a major milestone toward the return of supersonic travel. The experimental aircraft safely and successfully executed its first flight.
The XB-1, which did not break the sound barrier, completed a 12-minute sub-sonic test flight at the Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, CA., flown by XB-1 Chief Test Pilot Bill “Doc” Shoemaker.
