BMW says the new i3 can travel up to 559 miles on a single charge, add 249 miles of range in just 10 minutes, and deliver 469 horsepower through its dual electric motors.

For 50 years, the 3 Series has been the car that defined BMW. It has been the company’s best-selling sedan, its global ambassador, and the model that introduced generations of drivers to BMW’s famous driving experience.

Now, BMW has given its most iconic model a fully electric future. Built on the new Neue Klasse platform, the electric i3 represents one of the biggest technological changes in BMW’s history.

It features sixth-generation battery technology, an 800-volt charging system, and a powerful new chassis computer that processes data ten times faster than previous BMW systems.

This isn’t simply an electric car wearing a 3 Series badge. BMW designed it as a true 3 Series first and an electric vehicle second. That difference is clear throughout the car and shows just how seriously BMW is approaching the future of driving.
