This 73,000-year-old South African cave stone is the world’s oldest drawing.
The earliest known drawing is 73,000-year-old, discovered at Blombos Cave, South Africa.
The previews one was 64,000 year-old cave paintings from Spain.
A key distinction of this one is that it is a drawing, rather than an engraving.
Archaeologist Paul Pettitt of Durham University in England, said:
“If there is any point at which one can say that symbolic activity had emerged in human society, this is it.”
