Toyota unveils ‘Walk Me’ autonomous wheelchair that walks, climbs, and folds itself.

At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Toyota introduced ‘Walk Me,’ a new autonomous wheelchair designed to make movement easier for people with limited mobility.

Instead of wheels, it uses four robotic legs that can walk, climb stairs, and move smoothly over uneven ground or through tight spaces. The curved backrest supports the user’s posture, while side handles and buttons help control its movement. Soft covers on the legs protect the sensors and moving parts.

When not in use, the wheelchair folds into a compact size, making it easy to store or fit inside a car. Though still a prototype, Walk Me shows Toyota’s vision for future mobility, where smart technology gives people more freedom, comfort, and independence.
