Physicists may have finally observed gravitational waves, ripples in the fabric of spacetime, predicted by Albert Einstein.
The Caltech theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss tweeted:
“My earlier rumor about LIGO has been confirmed by independent sources. Stay tuned! Gravitational waves may have been discovered!! Exciting.”

Albert Einstein proposed that “like a ship moving through water, very large objects could generate ripples in the fabric of space and time.”
The recently upgraded detector at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO), could ‘observe’ these gravitational waves and provide valuable information about the birth of the universe and black holes.
