Webb and Hubble revealed a weird galaxy pair that looks like ‘spooky eyes in space.’
NASA’s Webb and Hubble telescopes observed a pair of galaxies that looked eerily like a blood-pumped face with a glaring eye. The bright, intense cores of these galaxies shine into the deep darkness of space.
So far, these galaxies have only brushed past each other, with the smaller galaxy, IC 2163 on the left, slowly moving behind the larger galaxy, NGC 2207 on the right, millions of years ago.
Their haunting colors combine mid-infrared light from NASA’s James Webb Telescope with visible and ultraviolet light from NASA’s Hubble Telescope.
