At the 2025 Airbus Summit, Airbus shared updates on its next-gen airliner and its plans for the future of commercial aviation.
The company is developing a next-generation single-aisle aircraft featuring innovative technology and advanced engineering. Plans include launching this aircraft in the latter half of the 2030s, along with refining its ZEROe project roadmap to advance hydrogen-powered flight technology.

This future aircraft will have wings inspired by biomimicry for better aerodynamics, generating more lift to improve fuel efficiency. Its engines will use 20% less fuel than today’s models, making air travel greener and more cost-effective. Airbus also sees hybrid and electric technologies playing a growing role in further boosting efficiency.

At the Summit, Airbus reaffirmed its commitment to developing a commercially viable hydrogen aircraft. The company highlighted key technologies that will pave the way for a fully electric, fuel-cell-powered commercial plane—a pathway identified as the most promising after years of hydrogen aviation research.
