Chinese electric aircraft maker EHang got approval in 2023 for its two-seat air taxi, self-flying EH216-S, in China.

This opened the door for its use as a low-altitude vehicle, mainly for short tourist flights.

In April 2024, the company began limited sightseeing flights in Guangzhou and Hefei.

EHang plans to release the VT35, a longer-range, two-seat air taxi based on its earlier VT30 prototype.

The VT30 can fly up to 300 km (186 miles) and remain airborne for approximately 100 minutes.

The upcoming VT35 will have a range of several hundred miles and will also fly autonomously.

China aims to have over 100,000 electric air taxis and cargo drones in the skies by 2030.
