Portugal was powered by 100% renewable energy for more than four days!
Portugal’s electricity consumption was fully covered by renewable sources, from May 7 to May 11.

The European country covered all of its electricity needs, from hydropower plants, biofuels, solar panels, wind turbines and geothermal heat.
Portugal got the 63 percent of its electricity in 2014, from renewables, that decreased because of a drought, to 50 percent in 2015.
The WorldWatch Institute, asked:
“How did Portugal assume such impressive leadership in the clean energy transition? The key, as usual, lies in ambitious supportive policies.”
