Gauguin’s “Nafea Faa Ipoipo (When Will You Marry?),” from 1892, was sold nearly $300 million!
Gauguin’s painting that broke the price record, was sold by a collector in Switzerland in a private transaction.
The painting that sold believed for a museum in Qatar, for about $300 million, nearly 25 percent higher than the most expensive painting ever sold.
According to the New York Times an art collector has sold “Nafea Faa Ipoipo. The painting was long owned by former Sotheby’s exec Rudolf Staechelin. Staechlin’s family lent to the Kunstmuseum Basel for almost 50 years.
