Clouds are one of the greatest uncertainties in the climate system. EarthCARE will unravel the mysteries of clouds.
They significantly influence the temperature of our atmosphere, but their future behavior as the Earth warms remains unknown.
EarthCARE satellite is scheduled to launch on 28 May 2024, ESA’s Earth Cloud, Aerosol and Radiation Explorer will measure how clouds and aerosols affect Earth’s heating and cooling. Equipped with four state-of-the-art instruments, it represents a major leap forward in satellite technology.
It will provide unprecedented data to help us understand clouds and aerosols better. This data will improve our atmospheric models and climate forecasts, equipping us to address the challenges of climate change with greater accuracy and precision.
