Rafael Vinoly Architects has unveiled plans for an impressive new airport terminal, taking inspiration from the local tradition of wine production. The Aeroporto Amerigo Vespucci will cover a substantial 538,195 square feet (50,000 square meters) and is anticipated to welcome over 5.9 million international passengers annually.

The terminal will boast a green roof hosting a functional vineyard, spanning 19 acres (7.6 hectares) with 38 rows. Overcoming challenges related to irrigation and cultivation, a renowned local winemaker will oversee the vineyard, producing wine to be aged in specialized cellars beneath the terminal.

Arrival and departure areas will be strategically placed around a spacious central public area, emphasizing ease of navigation for travelers.
