Boeing has shared new artwork of its F/A-XX sixth-generation fighter emerging through a vapor cone.

The F/A-XX concept, which bears a resemblance to earlier images of its F-47 design, was selected for the U.S. Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program. While concept art doesn’t always reflect the final aircraft, the similarities suggest the two designs may share many features.

From the image, the twin-engined F/A-XX is tailless and clearly built with stealth in mind. However, small forward canards can be seen, which likely trade some stealth for greater maneuverability. Made for carrier-based strike missions, the jet resembles the F-47 in some ways, with a large single-seat cockpit canopy, though its nose section is smaller.
