Scientists just declared a new geological age influenced by humans.
Anthropocene, the name of which means the human epoch: ‘relating to denoting the current geological age, viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment.’
The new epoch is a “new age of man,” signifying the intense influence ‘human activity is having on the future geological record.’
According to experts the new epoch, when humans permanently changed the planet, should begin about 1950.
Changes in the Earth’s biosphere by humans, are now becoming clear in rock and soil strata.
The new geological epoch, was proposed by Nobel Prize-winning atmospheric chemist Paul Crutzen just 15 years ago.
