Virgin Galactic made its first commercial trip by sending Italians to the edge of space.
On June 29, Virgin Galactic with the Galactic 01 spaceflight is entering a new space age, crewed by researchers from the Italian Air Force & National Research Council of Italy.
Italian Air Force officers unfurled their nation’s flag watching the curve of Earth and enjoying the weightlessness at 52.9 miles (85.1 kilometers) height.
Colonel Walter Villadei told reporters at a press conference:
“It was a beautiful ride,” adding that his favorite moment was seeing the contrast between the black of space and the planet beneath.
